Seventhly, Defending the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him:

Amongst the forms of defending the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is to preserve, review, protect it from the fabrication of the liars, the distortion of the extremists and the interpretation of the ignorant, and refute the claims of the infidels and the slanderers of his Sunnah, exposing their lies and plots. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, supplicated Allah, The Almighty, to grant brightness to those who raise this banner high saying: “May Allah brighten [the face of] a person who hears something thing from us, and reports it as he heard it, for perhaps the one whom the knowledge is reported to, is more understanding than the one who reported it to them."

Defending the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, also includes refuting the claims of the mockers through his well established guidance of words, actions and belief, such those who mock the Hijab, beard, raising garment above ankles (for men), Siwaak  and the like. In fact, mocking the authentic Sunnah is a form of Kufr that puts one beyond the pale of Islam. In this regard, Allah, The Almighty, Says (what means): {And if you ask them, they will surely say, "We were only conversing and playing." Say, "Is it Allah and His verses and His Messenger that you were mocking?" Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after your belief. If We pardon one faction of you - We will punish another faction because they were criminals.} [Quran 9: 65-66]

Taking the matter of defending the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and his religion lightly is a form of betrayal that indicates faith weakness or complete loss of it. Whoever pretends love while no effects of protective jealousy appeared towards the sanctity, honor and Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is actually a liar. Scholars of Hadeeth used to expose the defect of narrators in reviewing Sunnah and distinguish the good from the bad, evaluates the accreditation of Hadeeths and their narrators to determine if they fulfill the conditions which qualify the narration to be authenticated (i.e. the chain of narrators which fulfill the conditions of authenticity are acceptable; other chains which include one or more reason to justify their rejection means they are rejected). What wonderful words said by Abu Bakr ibn Khallaad pointing out the keenness of our righteous predecessors regarding defending the Prophetic Sunnah: "I entered upon Yahya ibn Sa‘eed when he was sick. He said to me: "O Abu Bakr, how did you leave the people of Basrah talking about (me)?" I replied: "They were saying good (of you); however, they fear your criticism and evaluation of people (because of the Hadeeth)." Upon this he said: "Remember such words from me, it would be better for me to have an opponent from the people in the Hereafter than having the prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, my opponent saying, it was reported for you a Hadeeth from me while you doubted that it is not authentic and you did not criticize or reject it."

Muhammad ibn Al-Murtadha Al-Yamaani said: "The one who defends and protects Sunnah is like the one who strives in the Cause of Allah, The Almighty, who prepares himself for striving with whatever he is able of power and of steeds of war as Allah, The Almighty, Says (what means): {And prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war by which you may terrify the enemy of Allah…} [Quran 8: 60]

It was also narrated authentically in the Saheeh (of Imam Al-Bukhaari) that Jibreel (Gabriel), may Allah exalt his mention, was with Hassan (ibn Thaabit, the poet), may Allaah be pleased with him, to support him so long as he speaks in defence of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in his poetry. This will surely occur to whoever defends his religion and Sunnah after the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, believing in and loving and supporting him."
