1- Glorifying Sunnah, Narrations and Proofs from Both Revelations by Word, Action and Knowledge. It was narrated that Ibn Mas‘ood, may Allaah be pleased with him, said: "Moderation upon the Sunnah is better than exertion in innovation." 

Also, Abu ‘Uthmaan Al-Hiri, may Allaah be pleased with him, said: "Whoever gives the Sunnah authority over himself in word and deed speaks with wisdom. Whoever gives passion authority over himself speaks by innovation." 

It was said to Maalik, may Allaah have mercy upon him, why do not you take narrations from ‘Amr ibn Dinaar? He replied, “I went to him (‘Amr ibn Dinar) and I found him narrating Hadeeth to others while in a standing position. So I thought to myself that the Hadeeth of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is too great and majestic to take them in a standing position.”

Sahl ibn ‘Abdullah, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said: "We have six principles: Holding fast to the Book of Allah, The Almighty, taking the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, as a guide; eating what is licit; quitting from harm and avoiding sins; repentance; fulfillment of obligations."

What helps one to glorify and love Sunnah and narrations is remembering the following:

•   It invites and encourages us to act upon it. That is because action is the proof of the truthful love as Allah, The Almighty, Says (what means): {Say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."} [Quran 3: 31]

Therefore, lovers are divided into three categories: some of them seeks something from the beloved, some others seek the beloved himself, while the third group seeks what pleases the beloved along with seeking the beloved himself, and the latter is the highest of the categories of the lovers."

You disobey Allah, The Almighty, while you pretend loving him, by Allah, The Almighty, this is something awful.

If your love is truthful, then you will surely obey him for the lover is totally obedient to his beloved.

•   It is an obligatory Sharee‘ah as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Adhere to my Sunnah and to the Sunnah of the rightly guided Caliphs. Bite on to it with your molar teeth, and beware of newly invented matters, for verily every Bid‘ah (innovation) is a going astray.”

•   It honors all who is attributed to it because of all Hadeeths that refer to Sunnah and Al-Jamaa‘ah (i.e. Muslim community).

When I am attributed to you, I become glorified and became in higher status than those who are not attributed to it.

•   It acts as the balance of justice that distinguishes all who follow it from others (who do not). It is the fundamental base of beliefs, morals, transactions and Sharee‘ah as well as being the moderate Sharee‘ah as Allah, The Almighty, Says (what means): {And thus we have made you a just community…} [Quran 2: 143]

•   It is the truth that will remain until the Day of Resurrection as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A group of my Ummah would remain adherent to the truth, those who failed them, would not harm them until the command of Allaah comes while they are in this state." 

•   It is in great conformity with the sound nature and valid for every time and place as Allah, The Almighty, Says (what means): {…[Adhere to] the fitrah of Allah upon which He has created [all] people…} [Quran 30: 30]

 

2- Regarding, Venerating and Respecting Highly Those Who Adhere to the Sunnah; especially the scholars among them. As the scholars are the best of the whole nation, they are the light that people walk with in darkness. They are also the trustees on the legacy of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.

Moreover, they have greater right because they revive the traditions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and renew the extinct features of the religion. Also, because they have more knowledge and are nearer to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, regarding words, actions, inward and outward characteristics.

 

They also loved his companions, were allies to them, took from them the honorable prophetic Hadeeth as knowledge, action, jurisprudence and conduct. They are those who raise high the motto of the Noble Quran, Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and Ijmaa‘ (i.e. Consensus of Muslim scholars). Thus, they adhere to their community and gather themselves together, preserve their unity, and gather together under its banner away from the banners and mottos of deviant sects of the people of misguidance, dissension, desires and disagreement."

Sufyaan ibn ‘Uyaynah, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said: "You never find any one of the scholars of Hadeeth except with a bright face because of the supplication of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him." Imam Ash-Shaafi‘i, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said: "Whenever I see one of the scholars of Hadeeth, as if I see one of the companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. May Allah reward them the best. They preserved and conveyed Hadeeth for us and thus have many favors upon us.

We should never turn away from our Islamic prominent symbols to those of misguidance in literature of the contemporary writers, philosophers, revolutionists, and unknown leaders. Rather, we should defend the scholars of Islam, assemble around them, love and advise them, have trust in them, attend their lessons for they have the sound legacy i.e. the legacy of the Prophets, may Allah exalt their mention. Thus, contemplate this well.

Knowledge is the legacy of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, as it is stated in the text while scholars are his hires.

The chosen Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, left nothing but his tradition in us, then this is all of his wealth and estate.
